L9 Convention in Birmingham – November 11-13, 2011
The convention ended up as usual with a closing ceremony where everyone who worked hard to bring it all together got their thanks and the guests said a few parting words. They all enjoyed the convention and were grateful to their fans for making it happen.
At the end Sean Harry announced once again that the last L10 Convention will happen on June 15-17, 2012 in Birmingham as well. The featured guests so far are Rachel Shelley, Pam Grier, Janina Gavankar and Alex Hedison. The tickets are on sale already HERE, so don’t miss your chance to go if you have never been to an L Convention.
After the convention, I also had the privilege to attend Heather’s gig at Birmingham Glee Club on Monday night. It was intimate, entertaining, heartwarming and awesome. Heather was singing by herself with just her guitar and the piano, while entertaining us with stories and hilarious remarks in between. She told the audience that she felt comfortable enough to sing just her original songs and did not do any cover songs. We had a chance to hear at least three new songs she hadn’t sang before.
After the concert everyone was given an opportunity to take a photo with Heather, get a free shirt and say a few words. Heather’s father was there because he was driving her around since Heather was still filming Waterloo Road and also had three more gigs to perform. In fact, Heather got a 6:30 am call to be on the set and was leaving right after meeting everyone.
Heather is a very classy and down to earth person and that concert was a highlight of L9 for me. All the songs Heather performed went straight to my heart because they were speaking to me on a very personal level. Call me a hopeless romantic but even her most melancholic songs are about hope, true love and friendships. It was one of the best gigs I had ever attended.

Stay tuned for my interviews with Heather Peace and Tracy and Stamie.
