Team Sam or Team Frankie – Lip Service, season 2
By LanaRus
If you live in the UK and you have BBC3 channel then you have no excuse but to watch the second season of “Lip Service” that is coming up this Friday, April 20.
When “The L Word” ended I never thought that anything could ever replace it. And then came “Lip Service”. I wanted to give that show a chance but was totally prepared to compare the storylines and the characters to “The L Word.”
Here’s the truth. There are some similarities, especially in the character of Frankie but, like Heather Peace said in her interview to l-word at L8: “As far as comparison between Frankie and Shane, I feel sorry for Ruta (Gedmintas) because I’m a gay woman and I see type of Shane and Frankie in any bar I go to. It’s not that we were trying to create a Shane character. There’s just that kind of gay girl out there and Ruta did an amazing job with Frankie.”
Season one was very refreshing and, though there were only six episodes, the storylines felt fully developed and kept us entertained and interested until the end. Judging from interviews and previews, the second season will be full of surprises and will introduce a few new characters.
BBC3 just recently posted a little spoiler scene of Frankie and Cat seeing each other again. “After a loved up month in South America, Cat and Sam arrive back in Glasgow. Having run away from her affair with Frankie, how will Cat deal with seeing her again. Tess has it all – new job, pad and girlfriend, but her first day at work and the arrival of a new flatmate throws up some surprises.”
So, if you are in the UK, tune in to BBC3. If you are anywhere else, check www.lipservicefans.com for updates, spoilers and hopefully, complete episodes.
