One good example of such web series is “Girltrash” that employed young actresses, some of whom appeared in “South of Nowhere” and “The L Word”. Though the audience was big enough, most of the viewers were the fans of both shows. (more…)

How Jennifer Beals stole “Castle”

I have a confession to make. “Castle” is one of my guilty pleasures. I began watching it from season one when I learned the premise of the show. A well-known and well-connected writer began following a NYPD detective to get inspiration for his next series of books. What I like about “Castle” the most is the perfect blend of humor and drama, silliness and crime-solving, romance and friendship.

Paramount Studios 100th Anniversary Photo shoot

Monday, January 16th, 2012

A few days ago Marlee Matlin tweeted, “Off to #Paramount Studios’ 100th anniversary photo shoot. I remember the 75th. I met Jennifer Beals there and have been friends ever since! I was 21 – a young kid at Paramount’s 75th anniv photo shoot. Now at the 100th with young Justin B. So sweet!”

The year 2012 marks the 100th Anniversary of Paramount Studios, the only major Hollywood studio to achieve this historic milestone. The last anniversary photo was taken by Terry O’Neill in 1987 to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the Studios inception. Notable among the stars present was Tom Cruise, Harrison Ford, Marlee Matlin, Jennifer Beals and Elizabeth Taylor, to name a few. There are two versions of that memorable photo shoot that are available for purchase HERE

Just as 25 years ago, Paramount Studios was hosting an A-list party and by invitation-only photo shoot with 100 stars that included several from the previous photo shoot, like Tom Cruise, Robert De Niro, Steven Spielberg, Kirk Douglas, Jennifer Beals, and Marlee Matlin. The roster of stars also included Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Justin Bieber, and Jane Fonda. The photo shoot took place on Stage 18, which was future in Sunset Blvd. and Rear Window. The Studios was taking advantage of many stars being in town for the Golden Globes Awards that took place last night.

According to some reports, celebrity photographer Art Streiber, who is well-known for his ensemble celebrities’ photos, was chosen to take the 100th Anniversary photo.

Marlee Matlin later tweeted, “I had the pleasure of sitting on stage with the esteemed Kirk Douglas. Wow a legend and gentleman.” She also posted a few photos from behind the scene.

To commemorate the 100th Anniversary, the Studios also released the Paramount Pictures 100 Years of Movie Magic App for the iPad.

“The app is an exploration of the studio’s incredibly rich and storied history. From Paramount’s modest beginning in 1912 with Queen Elizabeth to Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, the app provides a fresh and innovative opportunity to experience your favorite films by flipping through never-before-seen photos, watching memorable film clips, and listening to timeless music scores. This unique keepsake also includes an overview of Paramount’s story, a Studio Tour and a specially designed Scene it? game – all of which you can share with your friends and family on email, Twitter, and Facebook.”
