Erin Daniels (“The L Word”) Plays Therapist on Logo Series

Tuesday, October 9th, 2012

Erin Daniels, who will always remain my favorite fictional tennis player, will join the cast of a new LOGO series, DTLA.

The series tells story of a diverse group of friends, mostly gay, all at the crossroads of their lives. Darryl Stephens (Noah’s Arc) stars as Lenny, a civil litigation attorney, who reunites with his college friend SJ (Marshelle Fair) during the breaking point in her marriage. At the same time his own long-term relationship with Bryan (Matthew Stephen Herrick) starts to crumble. Also in the mix are Kai (Hiro Tanaka), a young teacher obsessed with hooking up with his celeb crush, Marky (Scott Pretty), a young Marine cadet; his boyfriend Matthew (Patrick McDonald), a newcomer to LA who will stop at nothing to make it as an actor; and Stefan (Ernest Pierce), an outspoken lawyer struggling to make his relationship work with his much younger boyfriend Trey (JC Jones) after finding out about his secret life.

The supporting cast includes Melanie Griffith, Sandra Bernhard, Erin Daniels, Jeremy Jackson, Leslie Jordan, William McNamara, and Julie Goldman. Erin Daniels will play Dr. Carol Lazenby, a therapist for one of the male characters.

The show is produced by The L Word executive producer, Larry Kennar, who just recently has been nominated as one of the successful gay man in show business by POWER UP. DTLA premiers Wednesday, October 24 at 11pm EST.

“These new series feature a great range of bold concepts, rich characters, big stars and fresh faces,” CBS Entertainment President Nina Tassler said in a statement during upfronts in New York. “From a new take on Sherlock Holmes to an epic battle for control of 1960’s Las Vegas to a working-class point of view in a prestigious law firm, the dramas each have a unique style and sensibility. And, our new comedy “Partners” fits perfectly with the CBS Monday night tradition of relationship comedies with a lot of heart and humor.”

The 2012-2013 Fall Schedule: CBS (New programs in UPPER CASE; all times ET)

MONDAY
8-8:30 p.m. – “How I Met Your Mother”

8:30-9 p.m. – “PARTNERS”

9-9:30 p.m. – “2 Broke Girls”

9:30-10 p.m. – “Mike & Molly”

10-11 p.m. – “Hawaii Five-0”

Mondays will stay the same with an addition of a new half-hour comedy, “Partners”. I do hope that in the new season of “How I Met Your Mother” we will finally meet that illusive mother.

“Partners” – The personal story of two lifelong friends and business partners — one straight (David Krumholtz) and one gay (Michael Urie) — whose friendship has lasted longer than any of their romantic relationships. When one decides to propose to his girlfriend (Sophia Bush), their ‘bromance’ is tested and nearly results in a breakup. Will & Grace duo David Kohan and Max Mutchnick are executive producers. Also star Brandon Routh, Tracy Vilar, and Molly Shannon.

Peter Rice, Chairman of Entertainment and Kevin Reilly, President of Entertainment for Fox Broadcasting Company, made an announcement during the upfronts in New York regarding the FOX primetime schedule for the 2012-2013 season, “Television continues to be the most vibrant, emotionally rich platform in the world. FOX has been the No. 1 network for eight seasons by delivering groundbreaking, engaging and culturally relevant shows that connect with our audience, not only on-air, but wherever they are in the digital or social space. With first-year culture-driving hits like “New Girl” and “The X Factor” and strong returning tent-poles like “American Idol” and “Glee”, we were laser focused on our development and it has really paid off. I have no doubt that our two genre-defying new dramas, our new FOX Sports Saturdays, and our three new distinctive, sharp and upscale comedies – all fronted by incredible talent – can propel FOX to even greater success.”

By the way, using tent-pole shows is a very popular strategy in TV, which basically means that the network schedules a popular program alongside a new or less popular to keep audience watching.

While most of the shows are airing their season finales, I hope all of you TV addicts are getting excited about the new 2012-2013 Pilot season. Just to make sure we all know what I’m talking about, here’s a brief explanation. Pilot is usually a standalone episode of a proposed TV series that is used to introduce and sell the series to the network. After seeing the pilot, the networks executives determine whether the series could possibly be successful and make a decision to order additional episodes and determine whether to put it on a fall or midseason schedule.
